What Is Going On?
Its New Years:
I wasn’t sure if I was going to write something as an end of the year thing because I never know what to say let alone afraid I will ramble, but here i go anyway.
Before I shot music, I shot abandoned buildings with Rule.of.nines, focusing on architecture, which during the pandemic my old account was stolen, so I had it deleted. It sucked and sent me down a pretty bad depressive spiral, because as dumb as this sounds, it felt like I lost part of my soul. A few months later(?) i don’t remember, I shot my first two shows.
Brittlebonesil invited me out to shoot a basement show and formally introduced me to music photography, along with another friend inviting me to go with to concept saves. Next thing you know, I’m turning all of you into mini-manga zines(?) and Rule.of.nines is sending me photos saying things like "got yo ass".
That being said, its been a very chaotic year, much uncertainty with years of history happening in weeks. Despite it, the shows continue, everyone keeps coming out to express, to just be, and all continue to engage in mutual combat. To that I want to thank all of you. From the bands and patrons that let me take pictures of them, to the people who helped me get into shows to shoot when I had $20 to my name, and to everyone in the pit putting up with my antics.
Your resilience in the face of uncertainty does not go unnoticed.
And truly it has been a humbling experience. From sharing my work, some of you even picking up the art(s) yourself, and the sense of community has been a privilege to witness and be a part of. You have allowed me to do things, a much younger me would have laughed at (as cliché as that is) and I hope I was able to bring some solace and memories to you through photo.
Be proud of all you have accomplished this year.
Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.
Happy New Year
